Sailing Basics
Skill Building Sailing Course in Tracys Landing
This 2-Day sailing course is designed for first-time sailors, novice sailors who have gone with others only as crew, and previous sailors who have been away from the sport for a while and would like a refresher. Take the helm right away, learn to drive a boat under sail, and sail trim to catch the most wind. The course covers boat rigging, parts of the boat, terminology, using the wind and some good pirate sayings that you can yell once in a while to show that you are now a seafarer!

ASA 101
Basic Keelboat Sailing
Skill Building Sailing Course in Tracys Landing
ASA 101 is recognized in all 50 states as the Safe Boater Certification Course and fulfills the requirements to operate a vessel. Keelboat sailing is a widely-recognized sailing certification standard. Students master points of sail, rigging the boat, sail trim, basic rules of the road, safety equipment, and are introduced to navigation aids.

Duration: 4 Days
Boat: Taught aboard 26′- 30' sailboats
Certifications: ASA 101
Course includes: Book, log-book, testing, certification, and a 3 month membership to The American Sailing Association.
Prerequisites: None
A complete learn-to-sail course in four days. We combine 4 full days of instruction for those who have weekday availability and want to alleviate scheduling on weekends*. Information is thoroughly covered with plenty of time to practice the outlined sailing skills. A very enjoyable and relaxed method of obtaining Certification and learning the proper sailing techniques.
*This course can also be taken over 2 weekends (Sat & Sun, Sat & Sun). To book a combo with weekend options, please contact our office.
Intermediate Courses

ASA 103/104 Combo
Learn and be certified to skipper a Multi-Day cruise! Class begins Monday at 10a and continues until 4pm daily coming back to dock each night until Thursday. Staying aboard is optional, except for required overnight on Thursday.

5-Day Coastal and Bareboat Cruising Combo
Duration: 5 Days M-F, 1 Overnight.
Boat: Taught aboard 33-40′ sailboats.
Certifications: American Sailing Association Certification (ASA103 and 104)

ASA 103 Coastal Cruising Course
Add to your sailing skills techniques that help you stay out for more than a day sail. Learn reefing, heaving to, anchoring, and basic navigation. Learn to handle emergency situations when sailing and get to know the systems aboard a typical cruising boat.

ASA 104 Bare Boat Cruising
Skill Building Sailing Course in Tracys Landing
An advanced cruising standard for those with cruising experience who would like the skills and certification to charter a sailboat of 30-50′ on their own. This sailing course in Maryland covers trip planning, living afloat, basic weather forecasting, cruising boat systems, seamanship, clearing customs, etc.

Advanced Courses
01
ASA 105/106 Combo
An integration of classroom and on-the-water application to demonstrate proper skills to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal or inland waters.
ASA105: Monday & Tuesday (All Classroom) – 10:00am-4:00pm each day
ASA106: Starts on Wednesday at 10:00am- overnight Wednesday & Thursday- finishes Friday Afternoon
Duration: 5 days, 2 overnights

DELMARVA Circumnavigation -
ASA 106 Certification
This course provides our students with a passage which allows the to demonstrate proper skills to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal or inland waters. The route allow opportunity to round the clock sailing while offshore, working in shifts the students to moniter the vessels systems and route progression.

ASA 105 Coastal Navigation
In this course at the Sailing Academy, you’re able to apply the navigational theory and practices for safe navigation of a sailing vessel in coastal and inland waters. This is a 2-day Classroom Only Course.
On-water coastal navigation skills elements are contained in the ASA103, Basic Coastal Cruising, ASA 104, Bareboat Cruising, and ASA 106, Advanced Coastal Cruising, in progressively increasing levels of detail.

ASA 106 Advanced Coastal Cruising
During this coastal navigation course with the Sailing Academy, you’ll be able to safely act as skipper and crew of a sailing vessel about 30 to 50 feet in length in coastal and inland waters, in any conditions.
This advanced course requires you to have taken the ASA 101, 103, 104, and 105 classes and is designed to test your knowledge and put your education into practice as we sail near Tracys Landing, MD.
